At one time it is remembered Uncle Ray use to talk to some Davises in Bethel who said they were related. People in this family did not seem to keep up with all of their relatives, even when they lived close by. Of course back then five miles was probably a long way!
I always liked the name of Arminda, tried to convince my children to use this name.

Percival..6Perhaps Elizabeth was William and Catharine's daughter, she married Ada Daley. A William Daley is shown in the residence before this. The age is unclear, the wife is shown as 36, which would make her too young to be the mother, perhaps this was a brother.
Catherine Davis is shown living with Arminda and Gideon Mattison on the 1880 census.
While visiting New York in October of 1998 I found the headstone for Arminda and her husband Gideon. I had just about decided perhaps her real name was not Arminda, though the census records show this. Arminda and Gideon are buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Bethel NY. In earlier years this may have been called New Bethel or Bethel Cemetery. They are buried going in the second entrance on the right not far before you hit the road coming down from the hill. I believe you could see the headstone from the cemetery road.
