..I can not believe that I have never put on here that I did actually find the grave for Anna Dodderl..I had just said I gave up..I went on over to some other family member's plots..came back to my truck..for some reason I went to the passenger side of the truck..I look up and there she is..I am out there hollering I found her..!!..I found her..!!..
This is a picture of Marge Smith Ward in Narrowsburg NY at the grave of Andrew and Louise and George Kehl. To the right you can see a monument about 4ft tall..this is for Martin Kehl and Anna Dodderl, the one I have looked for forever..I did get a good picture..I really feel stupid that I had looked so long for her..but never noticed this..
This is in St Francis Cemetery. Near the School.
..Take two cameras .. take double pictures..
Someone recently contacted me and says the D or T in Germany could both be used.
I did write the church and they did verify her name as Dodderl and as being a church member.
I have been searching for this name for so many years, I am sure it has been 10 years or more. In my sister's baby book my mom had written down Anna Maria Dadderal, this was in 1944. I had questioned mom about this, she told me she had never met these people, she just wrote down what she was told. The other great grandmother was written in as Mary Flood.
I searched and searched. Once the internet became popular, I thought for sure I would find this name, nothing, the closest I could come was Dedderer, but still no one could tell me anything. Someone had mentioned Dowd as a possibility. I could still find nothing. I had decided when I went back to moms I would once again look in the baby book. In the meantime I had pretty good proof one of the names I had been searching for was Anna Baptista Flood Smith. While looking at her marriage certificate for the tenth time I notice her mother and father's names listed. Though very hard to read. I am sure it says Mary Fury? was her mother, so, it was Mary Fury Flood! There is the Mary Flood!
While visiting in New York recently I go back over to the cemetery where some of the family is buried, it is a small cemetery, I drive and walk all of it, searching for more Kehl's, Smiths, Dadderl. I do find another Kehl and Grandpa Smith's sister, Mary Smith Dexheimer, no Dadderl. I am walking back to leave, for some unknown reason, as if someone is guiding me I go to the passenger side of the truck. After all I am driving! I look up, there it is right in front of me. Anna Dodderl, there is her husband Martin Kehl too. Perhaps the name was shortened to Dodd. The name of Dodderl does not come up on the SS death index.
The story in the family has always been that Anna Dodderl was the one who told about once owning part of 5th Avenue in the city. That could you imagine if they still owned it? However, as my mom never met these people, and, we do seem to have names wrong, I think perhaps it is more likely that Anna Baptista Smith was the one who said this, and we have papers showing she and her family did live on West Broadway, which ran into 5th Avenue.
