Of course we played it up a bit, for her benefit. I was going to send the sandwich to work with my hubby one day, but knowing him, he'd take a bite right out of it and state it was the best bologna he's ever had. ..ya might wanna look on here and see if this is one o yr long lost relatives..

The observance originated in France after the adaption of the reformed calender by Charle IX in 1564. Before that time New Years celebrations began March 21, ending April 1. When the New Year was changed to January 1 some still celebrated on April 1, thus they were April Fools.
