....Ward Family Re-Union...

2007

Many of the out of towners stayed at Beau Rivage Plantation. On Friday July 30 a large crowd went to Pearls for seafood.

On Saturday the big get together was held at Lake Forest Community Center. There was a band, prizes were given out, a photographer was there. The children enjoyed cotton candy and a Space Walk. It really turned out great. We had a t-shirt made up. Just about everyone bought one. They are royal blue with a white emblem on them. Very nice.

In all 16 t-shirts with Wilmington etc on them were given away as prizes. There was a vacation bank won by Kristina Sellers. Kristina then proceeded to take Kara Ward's Sponge Bob lunchpail and remove 2/3 of the money..!!..

There were three pictures for prizes, a coffee mug, a children's map book which Pat said Patrick would love. The grand prize was a bag with a coffee mug, 2 t-shirts, candles, candies, snacks. This was won by Jessica Hord. We are certainly glad that so many were able to come.

***The 15th annual Ward family re-union was held in Charlotte NC on July 30-Aug 1.

Originally we had the reunion in August. The date has been changed because school is now starting earlier.

The 9th annual Ward family re-union was held August 8-10th in Brevard, North Carolina. As usual many came into town on Friday. Friday night everyone went to dinner at S&H Cafeteria, it really was good eating..!!..

On Saturday everyone went to The Barbeque Shack in Etowah. We were served chicken, barbeque, beans, slaw, potato salad, drinks. Melba had a family tree cake made. There was a big tree with the Ward name on it, then it showed Vance and Ethel Ward, the cousins were on apples on the tree, then all these little apples below have the children's names on them. Melba said there were over 55 apples. This was just the direct descendants. On Sunday morning we went back to the Barbeque Shack for a real good breakfast.

Next year will be the 10th re-union. The possibility of moving the date and place is being discussed. We hope to have a family scrap book and t-shirts next year.

The first Ward re-union was held in Brevard, North Carolina in 1989. Over 60 people attended. On Saturday night there was a cook-out at the home of Tommy and Melba McBride on Kings Creek Road. Sunday everyone went to Sycamore Flats for a gigantic picnic, even deer was served. Most went to Sliding Rock and had a grand time there, many stopped at Looking Glass Falls on the way back.

The next year the re-union was held at Susie and Joe Tuckers in Calabash, North Carolina. They prepared all the food themselves, it really was good. Sunday everyone went down into Myrtle Beach to Quincy's for breakfast.

It was decided to have the re-union the second week-end in August, town names were drawn as to where it would be held. The third year our re-union was held in Oxford. On Friday night everyone was four-wheeled back into the woods to Mike's cabin for dinner. Our picture was taken at a breakfast Sunday for the local paper. Marge Ward made up a small leaflet about the first re-union with pictures in it. During these re-unions we have been gathering family history information.

Many stayed in what had been the local Holiday Inn. Saturday night the family dominated the pool! The day had been spent up at Kerr Lake.
