Mrs Pearl Jewell Brevard N.C.-Mrs Pearl (Ma) Jewell, 82, died at her home on Whitmire St, Brevard NC early Wednesday after a long illness.
She was a native of Graham County NC and had lived in Brevard NC for 38 years. She was a memeber of Ebenezer Welcombe Baptist Church near Landrum.
Surviving are 8 daughters. Mrs Amanda Dill of Greer, Mrs Bonnie Ward of Tuxedo NC, Mrs Elnora Fulmer of Columbia, Mrs Clara Stamey of Brevard NC, Mrs Mariska Pressley of Brevard, Mrs Oda Grant of Ocala Fl, Mrs Moda Brown of Landrum, and Mrs Agnes (Sis) Curlee of Brevard NC. Two sons Vance F Ward and Agnew (Bud) Campbell both of Brevard NC, 5 stepdaughters, 2 stepsons, 32 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren.

***Ronnie's sister Denise was a Smith, married a Ward. She is not related to the rest of the Wards on Ronnie's side or the Smiths on my side! Donald Ward is Ronnie's step brother, his wife is Joyce, they have two sons, Ray and Travis. One of them has a daughter.
Ronnie's family in 1997 still lives mostly in North Carolina, they may go other places, but they return to the state. Many are still in Brevard, or around that area. The only other place I know any of them lived was in South Carolina.
The family has a re-union every August, so far it has been held in Brevard many times. Calabash, Kure Beach, Oxford have had the re-union too. At this time there has been a re-union every year since 1989. The year it was in Oxford they took our picture for the local paper. In 1989 it was held in Brevard, over 60 people showed up.
We keep getting a little information on Ronnie's family here and there. I was told Alex, Ronnie's great grandfather was a river runner and killed when he found a still. This summer Ronnie was told that Alex was a forest ranger and this may have happened in Buncomb County..
Vance and Ethel Ward are buried in Pisgah Gardens Cemetery in Brevard North Carolina. They are towards the back on the left side.
