I probably have more questions about the Sparks, Spicer lines than any others. At times I have questions, but may be gone from home and do not have my book with me. Then I could not find my book! I always tell everyone to ask again if I do not answer. At times I close my Seasiders name because of junk mail. I ended up being gone much longer than expected and ended up with so much mail I just could not handle it all..!!. So ask again while I am home!
...While working with genealogy I have noticed that at times I find it hard to figure things out and follow some of the charts I see..so I designed these At A Glance sheets...
I found some of my husband's Spark's line were with the Boone's. They even moved with them. (See Sparks Association Newsletter No 3 September 1953..Daniel Boone and the Sparks Family.. 13--16). I wanted to try to see if there was a direct link on our line, regretfullly the person who could have told me passed away.
This Spark's web site has just been sent to me, I am sure glad to see this. If you have any Spark's ancestors be sure to save this and give it a look...the coat of arms and many other things are on there...

The earliest reference to William Sparks in Maryland is dated 1663 when Thomas Skillingham sold to George Richardson the land which he had been granted by the Lord Proprietor for having transported six settlers to the Province, one of whom was WIlliam Sparks.
In spring of 1754 it is thought William Sample Sparks with members of his family and Solomon, about 27, Jonas, about 20, and Jonathan, about 18, all sons of Joseph, left Frederick County, Maryland, for the Forks of the Yadkin in North Carolina. Others followed later.
I had the names for these pictures. Some are Cox, Flynt in 1937. Hopefully I will find the names. The woman sitting is Plutinia Cox the heroine of Heart of The Blue Ridge.

The Sparkses were part of a rather large migration from Maryland to North Carolina beginning in the 1750s.
I do have the book Log Cabin Families of Stone Mountain, North Carolina by Hardin and Virginia Royall. This book has listings especially for Brooks, Brown, Cox, Higgins, Hincher, Holloway, Hutchinson, Miles, Roberts, Royall, Sidden, Sparks, Spicer, Vannoy, Warren, Wood, Woodruff, Wooten.
Many other names are included. But, the ones shown are for the cabins. Locations of the cabins are shown, pictures of a few, and many other pictures. I understand from the authors there are no more of these books available. If you want to see a copy, try inter-library loan. I am more than willing to look for anyone. I have some of the Spark's Association newsletters.....
The address for the Spark's Association is
The Sparks Family Association
1709 Cherokee Rd

as far as I know this is still under $10 a year
