The New York Times was founded in 1851, the White Lake Times in 1914.
A while back I found some old newspapers. I had never seen or heard of this paper before. This paper was established in 1914, owned and edited by William La Polt until his death in 1934. Then Mary Jane La Polt became the owner - publisher, Lillian McCormick became editor. The paper was sold in 1945 or 46 to a paper in Narrowburg which later merged with the Delaware Valley News.
So, as you see this paper was a part of our town for a long time. The following are articles taken from the paper.
..articles are copied as shown.

The White Lake Fire Co is arranging for improvements at its new fire house, which was formerly the White Lake Chapel. The building will be painted and electric lights installed.
...This is an article from The White Lake Times, Kauneonga Lake NY, June 22 1934. I would imagine this is the program that went with this school picnic picture. Mom says the picnic was during the day, the program was the same night. There were no pictures in the three newspapers I saw. Mom said POP had a motorcycle with a side seat. There were seven children, he would take a few at a time!!

The closing exercises of our school held in the Chapel on Friday evening were well attended. As usual the program was rendered in a manner which gave credit to both teacher and scholars. Mrs Arba Phillips presided at the organ. This is Miss Neuberger's sixth successive and successfull year in our school. Much regret is expressed that her work here has been discontinued, as she has become endeared to us all through her kindness, thoughtfulness, efficiency and elevating influence, her pupils have been made better in every way. We are wishing her God speed. Among those present at the entertainment from other halmlets wre Mr and Mrs Neuberger and son Edwin of Jeffersonville; Mrs Paul Messemer of White Lake and daughter, Mrs Richard Chelis of Monticello, Miss Fanny Gordon of White Lake, Mrs Mary Mattison and grandchildren of White Lake; Mrs Albert Dauch and daughter of Kauneonge Lake; Mr and Mrs Vail Coots and children also of Kauneonga Lake; Mrs Andrew La Polt and daughters Pauline and Jean of White Lake, Mr and Mrs Chas Voorhees also of White Lake and several others unknown to this writer. (The author's name is not given)

Last row.. Mary Jane Peck Mattison, Gertrude Brucher. First row, second from left holding child Sylvia Gerow Mattison. Second row second from left next to boy Marion Brucher Campbell, woman in dark dress behind boy second from Marion, Lillian Mattison Brucher. Phone 78." There are both a small and large ad for Ballard Bros (on Mt Lakes Rd) in Mongaup Valley. They were the sand and gravel people.
